Odeo Opens Up

July 26th, 2005

After a much ballyhooed introduction, Odeo is open for business. Odeo pushes podcasting, which is kind of like radio that you can download to your computer and take with you on your iPod.

Why is this important to us?

Because Odeo is built on technology similar to the nuts and bolts that make up CrossConnector – Ruby on Rails. Ruby on Rails (aka Rails) removes about 9/10 of the grunt-work of writing a web application. Rails really lets you (the developer) focus on the user interface and the business rules of your application, while taking your eyes off the basic yucky code-writing of traditional web programs. Basically Rails makes it possible to come to market with a new, full-featured application in about one-tenth the time that it does with most other programming languages.
